While heading home one night Dawn’s car breaks down in the worst part of Chicago. Phone dead, she tried to find a payphone, only to be attacked by street thugs. She survives mostly unscathed when they are interrupted by their boss. Dawn finds out he is not a savior, simply looked for a snack.

While she is saved by a mysterious woman, she is still turned. Now a vampire, Dawn finds herself aligned with a group of self-proclaimed vampire vigilantes. Finding a balance between her new circumstances and her overbearing family is only the start of her troubles.

When the one who turned her finds out she survived, he tries to recruit her. For what, Dawn isn’t sure. When he puts her family, both found and biological, in danger however, she vows to stop him.
